As I like to say, I specialize in serving kindhearted couples at their elegant weddings with vibrant, in-the-moment photography. Well, the Sebastian Vail wedding of Caroline and John had elegance and vibrance in spades, and so many wonderful moments it’s hard to know where to begin. I suppose though that I should begin with our kindhearted couple, Caroline and John.
As I walked around Beaver Creek, down riverside trails and up mountain slopes, I took a few deep breaths and thought to myself ‘This is LIFE! I should get up here more often!’ I’m sure I wasn’t the only one thinking such things as friends and family gathered for Deirdre and DJ’s Beano’s Cabin Wedding. That cool, fresh mountain air and being surrounded by such majestic beauty is enough to make anyone consider a permanent change of address.
Marni and Nathan had a beautiful Beaver Creek wedding in the summer. Ah, the Colorado summer of 2014… In one word? Wet! But Marni and Nathan wouldn’t let a little rain deter them from celebrating the perfect day! The spent the early part of their day getting ready with friends and then had a special reveal on the river’s edge. A couple since High School I’m sure it was a moment they both dreamed of for years and years.
Colorado is a popular location for destination weddings. Sara and Ralph hail from Virginia yet were able to gather all of their family and friends for their wedding at the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch – because what’s more beautiful than a Colorado mountain wedding, right!? Ok, I may be a bit biased. But there’s no denying the spectacular grandeur of this place!
Sara and Ralph opted for a ‘first look’ which gave us a bit of time for photos in Beaver Creek before the wedding began. Then they held their ceremony at the Beaver Creek Chapel. One of my favorite moments was when they included Ralph’s sons in the sand ceremony. My other favorite moment was their ‘bubble’ getaway – check out the photo of that below. (You’ll notice one particular guest was really enjoying himself!)
Even though things started off with a few nicks and cuts, Laura and Rob’s winter Beaver Creek Chapel wedding, in the middle of winter, was a fairy tale come true. I met them at ‘the Osprey’ as they finished getting ready together. Rob was patching up things, and Laura was all smiles.
In 2012 there is a new Pixar movie coming out with some type of warrior heroine called ‘Brave‘. That was the same word used to describe Laura on numerous occasions as our heroine showed no fear of the elements as we went all over Beaver Creek for photos in the snow!
Kim and Jody’s Westin Beaver Creek wedding kicked off the night before with their rehearsal dinner at ‘Beano’s Cabin’ and the theme for the evening was “country couture”. Always good to find a way to sport cowboy boots and hats in your wedding festivities!
I had the wonderful privilege this last weekend to photograph a Beaver Creek Westin wedding in winter! It was the wedding of Alicia and Hilario. Their ceremony took place at the Beaver Creek Chapel and their reception was held at the all new Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Avon, Colorado.
Alicia looked wonderful in her classic champagne-colored wedding gown. And after the ceremony she braved the cold and threw off her jacket for a few portraits!
Then it was back inside where Alicia and Hilario started warming things up on the dance floor.
