I’m so excited to show off Emily and Ross’s wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch! It was beautiful, it was fun, and it was my first wedding shot almost exclusively on the new Sony A7RII and Zeiss Batis lenses (for you photo geeks who care). This wedding featured missing pants, a broken zipper, baby bumps, and the perfect wedding day weather!
Happiness. I’m feeling it all over. And meeting up with Emily and Ross for their Colorado Mountain Engagement Photo session has nearly everything to do with it. The mountains. A spring night. Green grass. Blue sky. A beautiful couple. Love. (A new camera (Sony A7RII) and some new lenses (Batis 85 and 25)…)
There’s a little place up in Morrison, Colorado that holds a special place in Vanessa and Steve’s hearts, so we were determined to get these Red Rocks engagement photos! When we looked at the summer concert calendar there was only one evening open this whole summer – and of course a storm and tornado hit that night! It looked like it wasn’t meant to be, but then Nickelback cancelled their concert and so our second date was set. Of course, when we got there, the movie ‘Jaws’ was screening (rescheduled from yet another rain out). Fortunately, Red Rocks features many trails and rock formations which we were able to explore to our hearts content.
As I like to say, I specialize in serving kindhearted couples at their elegant weddings with vibrant, in-the-moment photography. Well, the Sebastian Vail wedding of Caroline and John had elegance and vibrance in spades, and so many wonderful moments it’s hard to know where to begin. I suppose though that I should begin with our kindhearted couple, Caroline and John.
As I walked around Beaver Creek, down riverside trails and up mountain slopes, I took a few deep breaths and thought to myself ‘This is LIFE! I should get up here more often!’ I’m sure I wasn’t the only one thinking such things as friends and family gathered for Deirdre and DJ’s Beano’s Cabin Wedding. That cool, fresh mountain air and being surrounded by such majestic beauty is enough to make anyone consider a permanent change of address.
I’m so excited to show off these images from Laura and Willi’s winter wedding in Aspen Colorado! We had snow, snowcat rides and gondola rides, dogs, two ceremonies, best friends, black and white winter wear, cigars around the fire, and an elegant dinner at the St. Regis in Aspen to top it all off. Where shall we begin!?
After photographing weddings in Colorado for 9 years now I start to think I may have seen every wedding location out there – and then, surprise! Along comes something completely unique! Later this year I will be photographing a wedding inside (yes, inside) the Denver clocktower and I know that will be a treat (a new site for me!). But last fall I had the wonderful experience of photographing Ashley and Dan’s Colorado wedding on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Yep. A wedding on a train!
Marni and Nathan had a beautiful Beaver Creek wedding in the summer. Ah, the Colorado summer of 2014… In one word? Wet! But Marni and Nathan wouldn’t let a little rain deter them from celebrating the perfect day! The spent the early part of their day getting ready with friends and then had a special reveal on the river’s edge. A couple since High School I’m sure it was a moment they both dreamed of for years and years.
